Pricing for family photography varies based on session length, location, the number of people involved, and whether you want indoor or outdoor coverage. We do not use fixed packages because a quick one-hour beach session with a family of three is a very different scope from a two-hour outdoor session with extended family visiting from abroad. Dubai has some genuinely beautiful settings for family sessions. Outdoors, Al Safa Park and Zabeel Park offer lush green space and open areas that photograph well. The beach is enduringly popular, particularly quieter stretches in the early morning when the light is soft and the crowds have not arrived yet. The desert on the outskirts of the city gives a dramatic, uniquely Dubai backdrop that families visiting from abroad often love. Heritage areas like Al Fahidi offer beautiful texture and character. If you have a favourite spot in the city that is meaningful to your family, we are genuinely happy to work there too.
October through April is the golden window for outdoor family sessions in Dubai. Temperatures are comfortable, the light is warm and golden particularly in the early morning and late afternoon, and conditions are generally pleasant for children and adults alike. From May through September the heat makes outdoor sessions during the day very difficult. Summer indoor sessions are a great alternative, and early morning outdoor sessions before the temperature peaks are possible but need to be planned carefully, especially if young children are involved.
The hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset, what photographers call golden hour, produce the most beautiful natural light for family portraits. The light at these times is warm, soft, and flattering. Middle-of-the-day shooting in Dubai creates harsh shadows and direct sun glare that makes it uncomfortable for everyone and difficult to work around photographically. If your family has young children who do not do well early in the morning, a late afternoon session leading into sunset is usually the best compromise.
Yes, and home sessions are often our favourite to do. There is something genuinely relaxed and natural about families being photographed in their own space. Children especially are more comfortable and more themselves at home, and you capture a different kind of warmth in those images compared to a location shoot. The kitchen, a living room with good window light, a balcony or garden, these can all make beautiful backdrops. We assess the light and space when we arrive and work with what is there.
Coordinated but not matching is the approach that works best. Choose a colour palette of two or three complementary tones and let each family member express that in their own way. Soft, natural tones photograph beautifully in Dubai’s outdoor settings. Avoid very busy patterns, large logos, or graphic prints as they distract from faces and expressions. Layers and texture add visual interest without noise. Comfort matters too, particularly for children. If a child is uncomfortable or restrictive in what they are wearing, it will show in every image. And if you are shooting in the desert or at the beach, factor in practicality alongside style.
This is the most common question we hear from parents and the honest answer is that we do not rely on posing at all for young children. We work by engaging children in play, movement, and interaction with their family and we capture what happens naturally. Some of the most treasured family images come from completely unposed moments where a parent is chasing a toddler across the grass or a child is absorbed in something and completely forgets the camera exists. We build sessions with enough flexibility that there is no pressure on children to perform, and that makes a significant difference to the quality of the images.
A standard family session typically runs between one and one and a half hours. This gives enough time to warm up, move through different spots within the location, capture both posed portraits and natural candid moments, and allow for the natural pace that children dictate. Larger extended family sessions, particularly where multiple generations are involved, may run longer and we factor that into the planning. We will always recommend the right duration based on your family’s size and the ages of the children involved.
A typical one-hour family session delivers between forty and eighty professionally edited images in full resolution. Every photo we deliver is colour-corrected, retouched, and consistent in style. We do not dump hundreds of nearly identical files on our clients. Quality over volume is the approach because the edit is part of the service.
Edited galleries are delivered within five to seven business days of the session. You will receive a private, password-protected online gallery link where you and your family can view, download, and share images. If you have a specific deadline, for example a holiday card you want to send, a family member who is leaving Dubai, or an anniversary occasion, tell us in advance and we will do our best to work around it.
